Members may volunteer to serve on Committees dealing with:


  • Membership and Qualifications
    To review applicant qualifications and recommend appropriate membership category to the Board of Directors for their approval; to develop programs to increase membership; and, to update and produce the annual Membership Directory.

  • Newsletter
    To publish quarterly issues of the AIOH Newsletter.

  • Exposure Standards
    To provide expert guidance and comment to the NOHSC Exposure Standards setting process, and to provide comment on associated NOHSC National Standards and Codes of Practice and State Regulations and Codes of Practice. The Committee's remit is to confirm that the Exposure Standards numbers, and Standards and Codes of Practice, are changed for valid occupational hygiene reasons and not technical aberrations.

  • Conference
    Is responsible for the planning, budgeting, promotion and development of the annual conference.

  • Certification Board
    To evaluate applications for Certification and assess conferences, seminars and other professional activities for certification maintenance points.

  • Ethics and Constitution
    To review the by-laws and code of ethics of the Institute. This committee is not an enforcement group or resolution board, but serves the membership by bringing to its attention ethical dilemmas facing the Institute, and can serve as a sounding board for challenges facing the professional.

  • Education
    To develop further education for members, to approve courses for associate membership, and to accredit courses for full or provisional membership.

  • Communications
    Is responsible for conducting market research/consulting with/seeking opinion on views of industry, unions, government and other decision makers in the community. To develop stronger links with professional bodies in SE Asia and the Pacific. To seek representation on key committees in order to have greater input into the preparation of standards. To improve communications with members and other customers. To actively seek to comment on public issues through press releases and comment.

  • Planning and Development
    Is responsible for reviewing and developing the future direction of the Institute. The Institute has 9 principle goals for development and this committee reviews these on a regular basis and works with Council to ensure the activities of the Institute are consistent with its goals.

  • Awards and Sponsorship
    Judges the AIOH Awards each year and is responsible for negotiation with the major AIOH sponsors. The Committee also reviews any additional sponsorship and has input into presentations and speeches at sponsored events.
