IONISING RADIATION SEMINAR
The Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists will be running a series of seminars on Ionising Radiation across Australa in July and August 2008.
These seminars will provide an introduction to ionising radiation, the hazards associated with it and their control.
Topics that will be covered include:
An introduction to the physics of ionising radiation
Sources of ionising radiation in the workplace
Principles and methods of radiation protection
A description of ionising radiation hazards and their measurement
Monitoring ionising radiation hazards in the workplace
Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice
All the sessions will be designed to encourage questions and discussions
on relevant topics.
These seminars will be presented by radiation protection specialist Celia Hacker.

ASBESTOS SEMINAR
The Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists will be running the very popular Asbestos Seminar from 2007 in Hobart on 22nd July 2008.
This seminar will present an overview of the current state of
knowledge and important occupational and environmental aspects of
this issue.
Topics that will be covered include:
Description of asbestos related diseases
Quantification of risks from asbestos exposure
Identification in bulk samples and air monitoring techniques
Discussion of control and removal programs and techniques
Understanding the approaches of removal contractors and
consultants
Associated legislative and compensation requirements.
