How should employers prevent psychosocial harm?

  1. Develop a resilience pill
  2. Tell employees to toughen up, take a cup of concrete or
  3. Use a scientific and risk management lens?

There has been a lot of attention given to psychosocial hazards in the workplace over the last few years, particularly with Codes of Practice being introduced by regulators in each state. The reality is Psychosocial Hazards are not new, but Psychosocial Risk Management is.

Lloyd will discuss how to use a scientific and risk management lens

  • To mitigate illness, prevent harm or promote thriving
  • To manage psychosocial hazards through using a risk based approach
  • Using the Integrated Model of Workplace Health
  • To identify the principles for developing a workplace mental health framework

6.00pm – Latest AIOH news

6.10pm – The presentation will run for approximately 30 – 40 minutes, followed by Q&A.

Networking, as well as the food and drink service, will continue after the presentation.

Lloyd D’Castro

Lloyd is a Psychologist with qualifications in Psychology and Business who is influenced by the principles of Positive Psychology and Contemporary Neuroscience. His subject matter expertise is in Psychological Health and Safety, Workplace Mental Health and Injury Management. He is guided by the contemporary model of workplace mental health (Promote, Protect and Respond). He applies risk management principles for psychosocial hazards, identifying hazards, determining risk, mapping and measuring controls. His 30years experience has seen him visit offshore, underground, and remote sites as well as corporate board rooms delivering one on one sessions, education, team and leadership workshops. Lloyd is also the Managing Director of Working Life who are a multi-disciplinary company with a purpose of building healthier workplaces.
