Vic Industrial Ergonomics - Beyond Hygiene Controls with Katrina James, CPE

How does an Occupational Hygienist partner with other technical and non-technical professionals in a way that brings real results in the world of business?

Do you feel like you are operating in a “silo” and that others are not interested in the information you have to share?

Do you feel valued for your technical expertise, but that you have more to offer?

What about going beyond that, crossing boundaries and daring to explore what you don’t know?

This session offers the exploration of a collaborative approach in manufacturing and heavy industry.

Ergonomics Case Studies will be used to demonstrate how professional collaboration with Occupational Hygienists and other practitioners bring results through team work for the blue collar worker and the business.

Are you ready to Anticipate what you don’t know?

Do you Recognise the situation? What are the links between the occupational hygiene hazards and the physical ergonomics hazards?

Learn through workshops and case studies how to evaluate and advise on the implementation of control for those situations.

1. Working in heat and manual tasks - what to look for and how to make a difference including and beyond hygiene controls for operators working in heat.

2. Heavy mobile equipment and cranes - what to look for including and beyond vibration to prevent long term musculoskeletal health issues for mobile equipment operators.

The seminar will also provide an evidence based and ergonomics approach to key areas in occupational hygiene and how to integrate the two areas of expertise.

This seminar but will alert you to recognise, and anticipate some ergonomics physical and design issues. Having an understanding of what data might be required and that ergonomic controls will contribute to improvements is an important step in overall work health and safety improvements.
