Student Status

  • Quarterly newsletter filled with relevant information to keep you up to date with industry news, updates to legislation, and recent advances in occupational hygiene.
  • Access to the “Members” area of the website including access to career development information and access to the mentoring program.
  • Ability to review and provide comment on Draft Position Papers from the Exposure Standards Committee for consideration.
  • Discounts for AIOH events including training seminars, state chapter meetings, and the annual AIOH conference
  • Participation in AIOH activities such as volunteer committees.

Associate member

As above, plus:

  • Gap membership (both free and additional fee options) of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) and American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Global Access Program (GAP).

  • Eligible to apply for the AIOH Scott Safety Canary Prize.

  • Eligible to apply for the AIOH Associate Member Education Award, the Industrial Scientific AIOH Conference Package Award, and eligible to be considered for the 3M Best Paper Award.

Professional Grades

Provisional Member

As per Associate level, plus:

  • Professional level of membership and recognition as an occupational hygienist.

  • Eligible to apply for the Draeger Young Hygienist Award, the AES Post Graduate Scholarship Award, and the AirMet Scientific Professional Award

Full Member

As per Provisional Member level, plus:

  • Use the letters MAIOH (meaning “Member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists”) after their name.

  • Entitled to vote at general meetings of the Institute and its Council.

  • Eligible to stand for the AIOH Council and Executive.

  • Eligible to be considered for the AIOH Pam de Silva Award.

Fellow Member

As per Provisional Member level, plus:

  • Use the letters FAIOH (meaning “Fellow of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists”) after their name.

  • Entitled to vote at general meetings of the Institute and its Council.

  • Eligible to stand for the AIOH Council and Executive.

  • Eligible to be considered for the AIOH Pam de Silva Award.

Honorary Fellow Membership

  • As determined by Council.

Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH)

  • Highest level of professional competence within the AIOH.
  • A Certified Occupational Hygienist may write the letters COH after their name.
