Job Advertising: Occupational Hygienist – Aspen Medical- WA

 

 

Aspen Medical has been contracted to provide quality comprehensive industrial hygiene services on behalf of our oil and gas customer, Shell Australia.

We are seeking an Occupational Hygienist to join our team in Perth. In this role, you will provide a range of industrial and occupational hygiene practice activities in support of the health services delivery requirements, both from the corporate CBD office and offshore onboard the Prelude FLNG.

This is a full-time, fixed-term role from August 2022 until March 2024.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Develop, implement and review risk assessments and management plans, consistent with the annual health and hygiene plan in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Provide specialist advice, and support to key stakeholders on health and hygiene concerns. This may include investigations, new chemicals approvals, hazard evaluation and control strategies.
  • Implement and maintain occupational hygiene processes and procedures in line with the regulatory and company requirements
  • Identify and evaluate worker exposure to occupational health hazards as per the site risk-based monitoring plan.
  • Periodic review of occupational hygiene programs/procedures, and develop and implement new programs as required
  • Educate, communicate and engage with HSSE, leaders and operational personnel on health hazard management; including performance standard reviews, findings, and recommendations identified from workplace studies
  • Manage and coordinate the maintenance and calibration of hygiene monitoring equipment.
  • Participate in internal and external audits in compliance with regulations and company requirements
  • Input into monthly reporting activities
  • Manage industrial hygiene records in accordance with company requirements
  • Regularly conduct site visits offshore

What we are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene
  • Full Membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH)
  • Ideally a Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) with the AIOH
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry with offshore experience highly desirable
  • Experience across a broad range of occupational hygiene disciplines
  • Well-developed occupational hygiene sampling skills, organisational and time management skills
  • Noise officer qualification desirable
  • Experience in human factors engineering desirable
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with strong communication, engagement and influencing skills • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Ability and willingness to manage a balance of office and site-based work, which includes regular periods of work offshore
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft applications, incl. Word and Excel
