About the role

The Occupational Hygienist, as an appointed Inspector, provides specialist knowledge and advice, participates in risk profiling, business planning as well as contributing to the identification and development of workplace interventions across the State.

You will provide expert advice, conduct analysis and apply contemporary technical information to influence a reduction in the incidence and severity of work-related injury and disease.

• You will be providing expert technical and operational advice to WorkSafe Victoria and its clients in relation to occupational hygiene issues in the workplace
• You will contribute to the development, implementation, co-ordination, and evaluation of occupational hygiene related programs
• You will participate in the development of regulatory standards, legislation and guidance material
• Finally, you will establish and maintain professional networks with a range of professional groups and public and private sector agencies

About you

You are an experienced Occupational Hygienist who wants to make a difference. Your communication and organisational skills are exemplary – You have a passion for Victorians returning home safely from work every day. You are a team oriented person who enjoys delivering/leading/ making an impact on your team and stakeholder.

• You have post graduate qualifications in occupational hygiene and/or a degree in a relevant discipline of science (preferably majoring in chemistry/physical science).
• You are also eligible for or working towards becoming eligible for full membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygiene (AIOH)
• You have a good knowledge of occupational hygiene and experience in the application of, systems, processes and procedures to reduce the incidence and severity of injury and disease
• You have the ability to undertake effective research and analysis and produce accurate reports and material
• Finally, you have a demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a range of internal and external clients/stakeholders
