The purpose of this presentation is to bring awareness and a reinvigorated conversation on measurement uncertainty, and how it can silently impact upon our professional work.
The context for the presentation/discussion is measurement uncertainty in both the sampling and analysis of respirable crystalline silica (RCS) which is important as over 1 million people in Australia are exposed to RCS in their workplaces. However, it will become apparent that the issues we will discuss can apply to a wide range of other substances.
WSP was engaged by Safe Work Australia to review 726 chemical. The objective of the review was to ensure the WES was up-to-date and based on the highest quality, contemporary evidence and supported by a rigorous scientific approach.
