Recording WA Sundowner – Extracting insights from noise dosimetry using AI. – March 2024

Presenter(s): Presenter: Wesley Podmore

Recorded 28 March 2024

Extracting insights from noise dosimetry using AI. It’s time for our first Sundowner meeting in WA for 2024! Get ready for some awesome discussions, networking, and maybe even a few surprises. Let’s kick off the year with energy and excitement. How can we obtain greater insight from existing noise management programs to understand what drives your workplace noise exposure and what you can do about it? Modern dosimeters allow for continuous audio recordings, but who has the time or budget to analyse this data manually? And how can practicable noise control solutions be identified and the costs justified? Using AI, workplaces can quantify workplace noise exposure contributions from sources present within dosimetry data, leading to prioritised and targeted noise control actions that support reducing exposure and achieving organisational change. In this session, Wood will present their AI solution ‘noiseAI’, and discuss a case study on how AI has been used to provide unique insights for a client.

In certain situations, chemicals may be inadvertently deposited on surfaces within buildings which workers may come into contact with. This presentation will cover the derivation of health-based hard surface swab criteria for per- and polyfluoroalkylated substances (PFAS) which can be used to judge the potential importance of this exposure pathway. A general discussion will also be presented on the manner in which PFAS surface swab data can be collected and things to watch out for when interpreting the confidence in the analytical results.
