The A, B, C’s of WHS

Monday 29 August 2022  From 5pm

This presentation by Paul Foley aims to provide some insight into the WA Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and the implications for the Occupational Hygiene community.

The presentation will focus on chemical, dust and noise hazards and the requirements for a Health Management Plan as part of a Mines Safety Management System.

 Speakers:     Paul Foley, Inspector of Mines OSH, Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety

Paul has over 30 years’ experience assisting resource companies, general industry and government agencies manage risk to achieve the highest standards of operational and HSE performance.

As an experienced Occupational Hygienist and HSE professional he has first-hand experience managing diverse projects such as ship and offshore construction, drilling, gas processing facility upgrades, mine development, and mineral processing construction and commissioning. His knowledge is diverse and includes chemicals, dusts, noise, radiation, geotechnical, electrical, structural, mechanical, psychosocial, and process safety hazards.

For the last 5 years he has been a key member of the Mines Safety Inspectorate in Western Australia. During this time, in addition to enforcing the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations (and lately the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Regulations) as a Specialist Inspector of Mines, he has played a pivotal role designing, developing and implementing many industry best practice safety reforms and most recently involved in regulation development and implementation.

Schedule:

5.00pm – Doors open for networking, food & drinks

6.00pm – Latest AIOH news

6.10pm – The presentation will run for approximately 45 minutes, followed by Q&A.

Networking, as well as the food and drink service, will continue after the presentation.

 

Cost:

AIOH/RACI Members – $30

Non Members – $40

AIOH student members – $10 (student cards to be shown for entry)

0.25 CM points awarded for attendance
