Session Information: “A Case Study in Pb-210 Dominant Contamination”

 

This presentation by Simon Booth aims to provide an insight into Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM).

The presentation will discuss NORM monitoring and its complexity. The presentation will also discuss disequilibrium and field work vs. laboratory analysis.

Session Speaker:      Simon Booth, Principal Advisor, Radiation Services WA

Speaker Information:  Simon has been passionate about radiation protection since the late 90’s while undertaking a BSc (Physics) at Curtin University. In 2001, Simon started working at the Western Australian Radiological Council/ Radiation Health Unit. In 2009, Simon began working as a Radiation Protection Advisor. Simon’s radiological experience is focused on the Energy, Resource, Educational and Industrial sectors. Simon holds a number of Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) appointments in WA and NT. Furthermore, in 2021, Simon took up an appointment on the National Executive Committee of ARPS (Australasian Radiation Protection Society).

 

Schedule:

5.00pm – Doors open for networking, food & drinks

6.00pm – Latest AIOH news

6.10pm – The presentation will run for approximately 45 minutes, followed by Q&A.

Networking, as well as the food and drink service, will continue after the presentation.
