Join the SA Chapter of the AIOH for a timely session exploring developments in the Control of Silica Substances (CSS) under the WHS Regulations and the broader national effort to address silicosis. This session is open to AIOH members as well as colleagues from HFESA, AIHS, and other associated organisations.

Key discussion points include:

  • CSS WHS regulations: Presentation on work towards the National Silica Plan & Regulations
  • CSS Training in SA, the regulator is approving those who can provide CSS training under the WHS regulations, they have indicated the SA Chapter could be approved to provide this but need one set of materials to review and approve. SA AIOH group would like to discuss this with those who want to provide the service.
  • CSS general awareness training, AI Group has developed training materials to support the National Silicosis Prevention Strategy

This session will also provide a chance for SA-based AIOH members interested in offering CSS training to collaborate on a unified set of materials for approval by the SA Regulator.

Speakers

  • Shelley Rowett / Andy McCarthy – Local context on CSS WHS Regulations and SA-specific trainer approval discussions
  • Leigh Threadgold – Presentation on CSS training and AI Group-developed materials
