August Webinar – ISO Respiratory Protection Standards: Why Work Rate Evaluation is Important
The Standards Australia/New Zealand Standards adoption of the ISO16900 series of standards on respiratory protection has significant implications for both manufacturers and OHS Practitioners regarding the selection and suitability of respiratory protection based on Work Rate Class (WRC) determined by the workers breathing rate. Respirators will now be evaluated and classified by WRC, which includes testing at flows indicative of the designated work rate and estimation of end of life for gas and vapour cartridges. The question of whether in workplace respiratory measurements are required for selection and use of respiratory protective devices utilising AS/NZS ISO TS 16975.1:2023 and the difficulties with estimating work rate class is explored in this presentation.
This webinar will be of interest to any involved in respirator manufacturing, distribution or selection, looking forward as Australia & New Zealand transition to the new ISO standards over the next 5 years.
