Extracting insights from noise dosimetry using AI.

It's time for our first Sundowner meeting in WA for 2024! Get ready for some awesome discussions, networking, and maybe even a few surprises. Let's kick off the year with energy and excitement.

How can we obtain greater insight from existing noise management programs to understand what drives your workplace noise exposure and what you can do about it?

Modern dosimeters allow for continuous audio recordings, but who has the time or budget to analyse this data manually? And how can practicable noise control solutions be identified and the costs justified?

Using AI, workplaces can quantify workplace noise exposure contributions from sources present within dosimetry data, leading to prioritised and targeted noise control actions that support reducing exposure and achieving organisational change.

In this session, Wood will present their AI solution ‘noiseAI’, and discuss a case study on how AI has been used to provide unique insights for a client.

Wesley Podmore

The speaker for this session will be Wesley Podmore.

Wes is a noise consultant and Team Lead for Wood’s Perth noise consulting team.

Starting his professional career with Wood in 2019 (5 years ago), after graduating from Curtin University with a bachelor of honours degree in mechanical engineering, Wes has worked on a variety of noise-related projects, including undertaking occupational noise surveys and noise control studies for clients within the minerals and energy industries.

In a Consulting position, Wes has gained field experience in many different work settings, including offshore/onshore oil & gas, surface/underground mining, refineries, as well as construction, water & waste industries.

In terms of noise experience, he has supported many clients through scoping and executing noise-related work scopes including FEED/detailed noise design studies, environmental impact assessments, brownfields engineering noise control studies, as well as supporting ALARP demonstrations and selection of practicable noise control solutions to reduce workplace noise exposure, strengthen social license to operate, and meet regulatory obligations.

In his spare time, Wes enjoys spending time outdoors, applying engineering solutions in the garden, taking on new self-sustainability projects, and spending time with his partner working on their new home and property in the Perth Hills (away from the noise of the city!)
