Hi to all, and I hope everyone is well!
It’s been a busy winter, and as we step into spring there’s plenty to communicate. This month we are excited to share several new member benefits, refreshed digital features, as well as some key dates and reminders.
A great initiative from our colleagues at the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA): AIOH members now have exclusive access to IOHA’s library of webinar recordings. This is an additional benefit of your membership, connecting you with the global occupational hygiene community and a rich catalogue of on-demand learning. Access details (log-in and password) are available via your MYAIOH Dashboard.
The Member Directory, accessible via MYAIOH, continues to serve all members and has undergone a major facelift as part of a wider refresh of our website and members area. The Find a Consultant page has had a clean, modern refresh for members who are consultants (Provisional, Full or Fellow) making it easier for industry to discover your expertise. Official launch date will be the first week in October. Please take a few minutes to update your details. As always Alicia Gorman our Membership Manager is there to guide you through the process should you need any assistance.
Have you ever purchased a masterclass recording or downloaded a PDF and then couldn’t find it again? As part of our digital makeover, the My Orders tab has been upgraded, purchases (excluding conferences) are easier to locate and re-download from one central place. Just look for the links that are available via the Invoice tab.
Our Beyond 45 modernisation project continues to move from design into delivery. I’m proud to announce the new committee chairs under our new committee structure.
Each of these leaders brings significant experience, energy, and dedication to their roles. We’re finalising Terms of Reference (ToR) confirming the sub-committees and committee roles and preparing support resources for volunteers. The committees will have a defined set of accountabilities that align with the strategic plan. I’ll share more detail, including final timing and transition steps in The Filter magazine.
On the international front, last month I had the privilege of representing AIOH at the 8th Asian Network of Occupational Hygiene (ANOH) conference in Taipei. The scientific program was well structured and delivered with some excellent plenary sessions and keynote speakers, and an enormous poster presentation area (75 posters) covering areas such as emerging trends in occupational health and hygiene, technology and innovation, mental health & psychosocial factors, leadership and professional development and heat stress. Please click on this link to view the topics that were covered, and feel free to reach out to the speakers for more information. For those who like to plan early, next year’s conference will be held in Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia!
The Professional Development and Education Committee has been active in shaping some new and valuable additions to our training program, with more details to be shared soon. For members who wish to pursue further study at university, the AIOH continues to support accredited university courses in Occupational Hygiene. If you are interested, please contact the office for further information.
As we move into finals season in the local football codes, we also move into the ‘finals’ of the council year. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Tuesday 2nd December. Nominations for council are now open, and this is your opportunity to contribute directly to the leadership and future direction of our institute. From my own experience, I can tell you it is an incredibly rewarding way to give back and to help shape the future of occupational hygiene in Australia and the wider region. Our Professional Development Awards program is now open, and I encourage you to send in your submissions. These awards are about recognising excellence, leadership, and innovation across our field.
Kelly and Claire in our Events team have been busy in some forward planning activities. I am delighted to share that the 2026 conference will be held at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre and 2027 will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre. We will be seeking expressions of interest for the conference chair roles in due course.
A quick reminder that our annual member survey is closing soon. This is your opportunity to shape the direction of the Institute, so please make sure you have your say.
Finally, keep an eye out for the September edition of The Filter magazine, which will feature a fresh new look and some exciting new sections we think you’ll really enjoy.
That’s it for now, have a great month whether you’re at work or enjoying some time off during the upcoming school holidays.
Thank you for everything you do.
Sincerely,
Aleks Todorovic President 2025
