The AIOH Health Metrics Working Group is pleased to share a new white paper, “Occupational Health Performance Measurement – Part 1: Findings of a survey of occupational hygienists and allied OHS professionals.”
This white paper has been endorsed by the AIOH Scientific, Technical and Research Committee.The paper presents findings from a national survey highlighting current workplace practices and identifies opportunities to strengthen worker health protection. The project focused on identifying high-quality leading and lagging indicators of occupational health and safety performance.This white paper argues for a shift toward leading indicators of occupational health performance, including metrics that assess:

  • the elimination or substitution of high-risk health hazards
  • the effectiveness of control systems (e.g. local exhaust ventilation)
  • compliance with workplace exposure limits and standards, including Biological Exposure Indices
