At the AIOH25 Awards and Gala Night, Noel Tresider was honoured with the Pam de Silva Medal, becoming the 13th recipient of the Institute’s highest accolade. This award recognises individuals whose contributions to occupational hygiene extend far beyond formal roles, influencing generations, upholding scientific integrity, and elevating the profession through decades of unwavering commitment.

Noel’s impact on occupational hygiene spans more than four decades, both in Australia and internationally. He worked across the oil and chemical industries, provided expert guidance, drove high-level epidemiological research, and consistently raised standards of practice throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Beyond leadership, Noel has contributed to the scientific and historical record of occupational hygiene, from research in the oil industry to authoring chapters in the AIOH landmark textbook, as well as producing the definitive history of aviation gasoline — a work recognised worldwide.
