The Member Recognition & Awards Sub Committee (MRA) champions the AIOH’s values by recognising and celebrating the achievements of our members. Through a range of awards, we support professional growth, highlight excellence, and foster innovation in occupational hygiene. From behind-the-scenes judging to public recognition at our Annual Conference, the MRA ensures our member achievements don’t go unnoticed.

Purpose



To support the recognition and professional development of AIOH members by managing the awards process for professional training, technical excellence, and innovation. The Committee plays a key role in celebrating member achievements and promoting professional growth through sponsored awards, while supporting the AIOH’s values and strategic goals.


 

Key Activities

  • Develop and maintain award criteria, eligibility requirements, and judging rubrics.
  • Guide prospective applicants through the process, offering feedback before submission.
  • Review and score applications, then recommend winners to Council for endorsement.
  • Notify both successful and unsuccessful applicants.
  • Liaise with sponsors to provide recipient details and presentation notes.
  • Assist and guide Council with Fellow nominations and Council Awards,
  • Support awardees with travel arrangements, itinerary approval, and post-award commitments such as conference presentations or articles in The Filter.

The Member Recognition & Awards Sub-Committee is comprised of Full or Fellow members of the AIOH who have previously received one of the Institute’s five main awards. Each member brings established experience in Institute matters and a strong commitment to maintaining fairness, confidentiality, and the highest professional standards.
