The External Stakeholder Relations Sub Committee (ESR) builds and maintains AIOH’s relationships with key external stakeholders, including allied associations, industry, government, academia, and the public. The committee focuses on networking, collaboration, and fostering long-term partnerships that enhance the visibility, influence, and impact of occupational hygiene. The ESR does not manage government advocacy, policy development, or technical guidance, instead concentrating on strategic engagement and relationship-building.

Purpose

The purpose of the ESR is to ensure that AIOH maintains strong, collaborative partnerships that support its strategic objectives. The committee gives AIOH a credible presence within key networks, connects members with relevant external stakeholders for knowledge sharing and collaboration, and strengthens the Institute’s voice and visibility in matters relating to occupational hygiene. By facilitating these connections, the ESR supports AIOH’s broader goal of promoting the profession and advancing its influence in the community and industry.

Key Activity

  • Identify, engage, and maintain relationships with industry groups, professional associations, academic institutions, regulators, and other relevant external stakeholders.
  • Promote partnerships and collaborative opportunities to support AIOH’s objectives.
  • Represent AIOH in external forums, events, and discussions, and report emerging issues or opportunities to Council.
  • Support other AIOH committees by connecting them with relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update the External Stakeholder Register, including contact details, media contacts, and appointed member representatives.
  • Organise and prepare AIOH representatives for meetings with external stakeholders, including briefing notes and key messaging.
