Exposure to crystalline silica is an occupational risk in industries ranging from construction and jewellery to DIY work. This Nationally Accredited Crystalline Silica Awareness course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to minimise exposure and promote workplace safety.

Course Outline

Dust occurs naturally and from man-made activities like driving on a dirt road or sawing a piece of timber.
In most workplaces, dust is considered problematic and a hazard, especially as dust can impact your health.
This course is designed to give you a fundamental level of knowledge and understanding of dust.
You will learn what dust is, how to identify dust and the risks associated, the negative health effects of dust, and the controls use to manage the risks associated with dust.

RED OHMS is an Occupational Hygiene Training Association (OHTA) approved training provider offering specialist hygiene courses that promote safety and health, and foster good working practices. Our courses range from introductory through to intermediate technical training.

RED OHMS Group is also British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) approved training provider.

W501 Course – W501 Course – Online and in person (Perth). Are you looking to expand your knowledge of sampling? This course will cover:

RISK ASSESSMENT – CALCULATIONS – INTERPRETATION - PRESENTATION OF RESULTS - WORK THROUGH A NUMBER OF UNUSUAL SCENARIOS

It is an instructor-led in-person (Perth) and online course. The ICertOH qualification is approved by the AIOH as an alternative to a university qualification, in gaining full AIOH membership. The W501 course is part of the core modules for ICertOH certification.

Outcome

  • Describe the general approach to health risk assessment, including the role of atmospheric monitoring.
  • Select appropriate equipment to measure specific airborne contaminants and devise a suitable sampling strategy.
  • Present the results for health risk assessment purposes to comply with relevant legislation.
