Capture, Contain, Control!

And The Not-So-Secret 'Source' Focus for Effective Hazard Control

RVT Group General Manager Roy Sutton has attended hundreds of infrastructure, mining, construction and industry project sites where the source of dust and/or fumes has been overlooked during hazard control efforts.

In this presentation he will share his insights for hazard control best practice, citing several case studies, including:

  • Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP) welded hot works fume — capture at source
  • CYP thermite welding for train rails
  • Client project: Encapsulation and extraction unit for sandblasting on a high-rise building
  • Client project: Shotcreting — the filtration system for capturing shotcreting dust at the source
  • Sydney tunnels diesel fume extraction and filtration systems — a comprehensive approach.

Special Guest: AIOH President Aleks Todorovic
We’re pleased to have AIOH President Aleks Todorovic in attendance. This is a great opportunity to hear updates from the AIOH Council and be part of the discussion on the future of occupational hygiene.

PRESENTER

Roy Sutton

Roy Sutton (General Manager) joined RVT Group in 2021, immediately adding technical expertise to the team following experience in the mining and construction spaces.

He has been instrumental in multiple RVT Group projects including Melbourne Metro, Cross River Rail and other large scale projects providing designs and equipment.

Roy is BOHS-qualified in inspection and design of LEV (local exhaust ventilation) systems and controls.

He looks forward to:

  • Strengthening awareness around protecting long-term health, not just immediate risk
  • Discussing how to better control airborne hazards – the 'capture, contain and control' principle
  • Presenting case studies – success stories of what has worked and why
