AIOH Submission – Review of Managing the risks of biological hazards at work Code of Practice
We welcome the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft Code of Practice for Biological Hazards (the “draft Code”). We recognise the importance of ensuring that PCBUs and workers are provided with clear and practical guidance to identify, assess, and control biological risks across a wide range of workplaces.
While we support the intention of the draft Code, we have identified several areas where the current draft provides insufficient detail or does not adequately reference other important existing sources of information. In its current form, the document risks being too broad, attempting to cover many topics superficially, without providing PCBUs with the depth of guidance necessary to manage risks effectively.
We provide these comments in addition to our preliminary feedback provided in March 2025.
