With the recent focus on asbestos in mulch in Queensland, NSW, ACT and Victoria, representatives from AIOH, ALGA, ALACA, ACHA and FAMANZ have been working together on providing support to industry and consultants who are involved in contaminated mulch investigations. One of the initiatives was to provide assistance to laboratories who are required to analyse samples of mulch for asbestos. The working group have prepared valuable guidance for laboratories on how to apply Australian Standard 4964-2004 Method for qualitative identification of asbestos in bulk samples when analysing mulch samples. If you’re involved in analysing mulch and interpreting analytical results, this is the document for you!
