Dear Members, As we reach the end of 2025 and look forward to a well-deserved break, I wanted to take a moment, my first as President, to reflect on the year we’ve shared and to thank you for your continued support of the AIOH and its mission.
Reflections on 2025 It has been a significant year for the AIOH. Thanks to the commitment of our volunteers, staff, and Council, we have continued to modernise and strengthen our organisation, so it remains effective, responsive, and positioned to lead in protecting worker health.
A major focus, under the leadership of President Aleks Todorovic, has been the Beyond 45 project, which reviewed and modernised our committee structure. This was a large undertaking, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed their time and expertise.
In 2025, Council made more than 100 decisions using our new streamlined systems, helping us improve the timeliness and transparency of our governance processes. We further strengthened our external relationships, formalising new MoUs with the AIHS and other organisations.
Our Committee and Board volunteers have once again been exceptional across all our endeavours – advocacy, education, professional ethics, publications, technical projects, membership development, public and external affairs, and more.
A special thank you goes to the Conference Organising Committee for delivering an outstanding AIOH2025 Conference.
Thank you as well to the members who represented the AIOH externally. Your contributions ensure our profession maintains a strong and respected voice. And of course, sincere thanks to our AIOH Office team, Alicia, Kelly, and Claire, for their professionalism and ongoing support.
Finally, thank you to all our members for your engagement throughout the year, whether at State chapters, training events, webinars, our annual conference, EHG activities, or mentoring activities. Your involvement is what makes our community so strong and vibrant.
Looking Ahead to 2026 As we move into 2026, the new Council and I look forward to building on this momentum. We will continue our focus on modernising AIOH operations and strengthening our relationships with SafeWork Australia and regulators across the country, in line with the AIOH Strategic Plan 2023–2028.
There is much to look forward to, and I am excited to begin this next phase with you.
A Holiday Message As the year wraps up, I hope you find time to rest and enjoy time with family and friends. Thank you again for your contributions to the AIOH community throughout 2025.
On behalf of the 2026 Council, I wish you a Merry Christmas, a safe and relaxing holiday season, and a wonderful start to the new year.Sincerely,
Dr Kelly Johnstone President 2026
